Gambling is the act of wagering money on the outcome of a game in the hope of predicting the correct outcome and winning the bet.

Why do people gamble?

Feeling lucky: Whether its buying a lottery ticket, participating in a bingo game or playing the slot machine, many people gamble because they are simply feeling lucky. How many times have you taken a chance on something because you had a good feeling about it?

To have fun: It’s not always about the money, but more about the adrenaline rush and the thrill and excitement of the game. The emotional highs and lows one may experience during a game may sometimes be sufficient enough to keep the player addicted to the game.

Financial need: Gambling as a means of trying to satisfy a financial need is without a doubt, a very dangerous and unhealthy practice. Gambling should be viewed as a recreational activity and not as a means of making money, especially when considering the fact that the player can’t afford to lose the money being gambled with.

Escape: Sometimes life can become very boring and mundane and we look for ways to escape the reality of our lives. Whether its due to a simple case of boredom, or an unhappy home environment, gambling at a casino may sometimes provide a brief means of escaping from the reality of one’s life.

Relaxation: As a means of relaxating and letting one’s hair down, gambling can be a great way to unwind from the many stresses of life. The pleasant, elegant and relaxing atmosphere of the casino itself can be a major source of appeal in itself.

To win money: Gambling presents an excellent means to win easy money. Of course, it can also be a great way to lose money, but the eternally optimistic gambler prefers not to dwell on the possibility of such an outcome.

Worthwhile cause: Wagering to support a good cause (i.e. charity) can be all the motivation one needs to place a few innocent bets. If the player wins the bet, then that is a bonus for the player, but if the player loses the bet, then at least it will be lost to aid a worthwhile cause.

Socializing: The pleasant and relaxing atmosphere of the casino is a great place for friends and family to socialize. Whether it’s at the casino restaurant or the bar, people often visit a casino to simply socialize, meet new people and catch up with friends.

Although a great number of people will visit a casino and gamble for the purpose of making money, the majority of casino visitors will visit a casino and gamble for a variety of different reasons.

In effective goal setting, using dreams to establish ideal outcomes is a critical step in creating the vision and purpose that become the building block for goals. When used that way, dreams are your servant.

But when the word dreams is mentioned, many people are turned off – to them dreams are a waste of time – a trip into fantasy. They feel dreams are not for the real world. They see dreams as taking away from action and accomplishment.

The line between dreams as the servant and dreams as the master is a thin one. Rudyard Kipling, in his masterpiece poem “IF ” wrote a verse that says “If you can dream, but not let dreams become your master….” Going even further, Cormac McCarthy, in his novel, “The Road” says: “When your dreams are of some world that never was or of some world that never will be and you are happy again, then you will have given up.”

You can think of dreams as a resource, a servant – a special place where you go to create thoughts that can serve as the first step to accomplishment. Or they can become your master – taking you to that soft, fuzzy place where you can escape from reality and think great thoughts that have a really low probability of ever happening. For most people, dreams are both a servant and a master.

How do you know if your dreams represent real possibilities, or are a place to escape from reality – to fantasyland? Do your dreams replace action – or do they create action and persistence to get through the tough times? The answer to those questions isn’t always so clear cut – sometimes our mind plays tricks on us.

Take the Lottery dream as an example. A New York Times article states that the dream of winning stimulates the same brain circuits as actual winning does. The article goes on to state that ” in brain imaging studies of drug users, as well as healthy adults placing bets, neuroscientists have found that the prospect of reward activates the same circuits in the brain that the payoffs themselves do.” It’s easy to keep the Lottery dream alive – just buy a ticket and keep those brain circuits buzzing. And at odds of 147,000,000 to 1 for each drawing of the Powerball Lottery, you may be a winner. Nothing wrong with taking that chance. At least not until the dream of winning the Lottery replaces dreams that have the potential for real action and accomplishment.

Realize that your conscious mind can only think about one thing at a time. Dreaming of never were’s and never will be’s uses up conscious thought at the same rate that thoughts of opportunities and accomplishments do. It’s when those never was, never will be dreams take up space better devoted to dreams of real world possibilities that dreams become a problem – when they become the master of time and energy.

Every minute spent on those kinds of low probability, low commitment, low risk, low investment dreams takes away from the time available to dream about real possibilities, solutions, tactics and strategies and rewards for accomplishment. Dreams that are the master do nothing to increase personal feelings of worth and ability – they do the opposite. By placing value on chance – as in the Lottery dream case – rather than personal accomplishment – they diminish beliefs of personal ability. And they are sneaky – often they become a habit of thought that just kind of happens – and they create a view of the world that isn’t at all accurate.

How to be sure your dreams are your servant – part of your real world – and not let them become your master?

Ask yourself these five questions.

1 – Do you find yourself thinking about the past – and how it could have been, should have been, or would have been different?

2 – Do your dreams take you away from the probable and the possible?

3 – Do you find yourself dreaming about a future that has no relationship to your life so far?

4 – Do you dream about being someone other than yourself ?

5 – Do your dreams require your “willful suspension of disbelief” ?

If you answered Yes to the questions, realize that dreams, at least part of the time, have become your master. And those dreams that are your masters take away from achieving success in the real world. Choose to examine your thoughts and apply the five questions. It’s tough – particularly if dreams have been the master for some time. Be convinced that the conscious examination of dreams can and will lead to a more effective, successful life.

Internet Scams: What they are

In today’s busy online world, one is susceptible to various scams and frauds. Most common among internet scams are email scams, identity thefts, phishing, email lottery announcements, HYIPs, and other malpractices.
You must be careful before giving out your financial information or name and address on the internet. A lot of internet scams are surviving because of people that actually cannot differentiate the good from the bad!

Check for authenticity of the site before even signing up for free! You email address could be sold to other scam companies that in return send you those whopping prize lottery announcements asking you for your name and a “small payment” to send you your cash prize or steal your credit card information!

Other scams include Auction frauds, postal forwarding/reshipping and even pre-approved credit cards!

Internet Scams: The wonderful world of Lottery

There are various scammers out there trying to get you at the slightest opportunity. The most famous among Internet scams being the Lottery. You have an email in your inbox with the subject line “Congratulations you have won!” You open it eagerly, wondering “what have I won?” and “when?” and deeply wishing that you have actually ‘won’ something!
You open the email and read that you have won whopping 3Millon dollars in an ‘internet’ lottery and that your email was ‘chosen’ for the prize. All you have to do is send in your postal address!
NO! It cannot be true. It is not true. Don’t fall for it! Before you know they will be asking you to send them some money so they can ’ship’ your prize at some later day!!

Internet Scams: Phishing emails from eBay, PayPal and others

Very often than not you get emails from big and well established companies Like PayPal and eBay. Often your PayPal account get ‘blocked’ and your eBay account gets ‘hacked!’ You are asked to urgently log in to your accounts with a false link enclosed in the email and beware if you do so! You are on someone else’s website! You log in has been hacked! Now the scammer can log into PayPal or eBay with the log in info you have provided at the false log in page!

Many complaints and letters to PayPal or eBay have not been answered satisfactorily either. It is left to us to decide and gauge if and when we are being used as a victim in the entire internet scam game!

Internet Scams: Proxy ISP’s

You should also be aware of proxy ISP’s. Some ISP’s have their own proxy servers which use cookies to cache website URL’s you visit. This enables faster loading of those pre-visited sites and, if your own ISP is reputable and has proper security features, there is no real harm for them to do that. And, there is also good and secure proxy ISP’s that you may use, but take care that you know how secure they are before utilizing them. And don’t try to pull something crooked by using the proxy IP address. There are means that some agencies have of determining your real address. One of the most popular internet scams that thousands and users have fallen for!

Internet Scams: Online Payments

Never use cash, a check, a debit card, or a bank account withdrawal to make an Internet-based purchase from someone with whom you are not familiar. If you do and then don’t get what you paid for, it is virtually impossible to recover your money without going to court. And even then, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be successful. In many cases, your money is likely gone.

Protect yourself by using a credit card instead. And it’s best done via a certified third party like PayPal, so the vendor never actually gets access to your credit card number. When you use a credit card to make a purchase, it is just a paper transaction until you pay for it. You are using the credit card company’s money, not yours, up front to make the purchase. You are not required to pay if the product or service you purchased is not provided or if it is substandard.

Seems to me that lotteries are a great idea and at the same time a terrible idea. The big prize lotteries such as the classic six-ball lotto or the real blockbusters like Powerball and Mega Millions offer the chance to millions of people of winning life-changing huge prizes. Of course the odds against this happening are astronomical but the chance is there. There is no real justification for buying more than one ticket. It’s just a case of being “in it to win it”. For many people (most of us) this is the only chance they will ever get of becoming super-rich. On the other hand some lottery games are just a way of making poor people even poorer.

So why are some lotteries a terrible idea? I have a problem with the flood of smaller daily pools and scratch cards. Take a typical pick 3 where the prizes are fixed so no opportunities created by rollovers. Typically the odds against winning are 1000 to 1 yet the top prize is $500. This means that you can play these lotteries for years and the best you are likely to achieve is to get half your money back. Any game where the maximum prize is relatively small, not life-changing, represents very bad value with no chance whatsoever of a major upside.

How about this way of doubling your winnings? Select your numbers but instead of buying a ticket, put $1 in a moneybox at home. Do this every day and check the results. If your numbers come up, open the moneybox and collect your “prize”. If not, keep up the system until you do “win”. This is simple but effective. Make sure you do put the dollar in the box and, of course, keep the box in a safe place. This should only be tried for games where the prizes are small. If you do it for any length of time you will find that the amount in the box grows steadily. Eventually you will be able to take out the surplus cash for a special occasion or to transfer to a bank savings account.

It would also be highly likely to work for lotteries with large prizes but there is the chance, however small, that your numbers come up. In this case you would be hugely disappointed. This highlights the difference between lotteries with small prizes and lotteries with large prizes. Small prize lotteries are effectively a sure-fire way of halving your money. Large prize lotteries are likely to take all your money but they give you a chance, however small, of a life-changing win.

Should you avoid lotteries altogether? Some people think so. I have a different take. Lotteries that pay out very large prizes that can make a real difference to your life and the lives of friends and family have a lot to commend them. Of course, your chances of winning are very small but while you hold a ticket there burns a little flicker of hope. This is really what you are getting when you buy a lottery ticket. One ticket is all you need. If you buy more than one ticket you increase your chances but the odds against winning are still enormous.

Personally I buy only one ticket and not for every draw. I wait for rollovers. One ticket means that I am playing in hope rather than expectation. I play the lottery in the HOPE that I will get paid. I go to work in the EXPECTATION that I will get paid.

Remember the old adage “Don’t give up the day job”. Nevertheless you can have a bit of lottery fun and you should make sure get the most out of your fun dollar.

YOU MUST TAKE ACTION

I received an email the other day and I think it demonstrates how important ACTION is.

A woman that is about to lose her business because she lost her major client. She prayed to God to let her win the lottery. Lottery day came and went and she did not win and she lost her business.

Without her business, she was no longer able to pay her house payments. She prayed again to God to win the lottery. Again, lottery day came and went and no win. She lost her house.

At this time she was living in her car and her car payment was due with no money to pay for it, so she prayed to God again to win the lottery. The same happened this time as before and she was completely hopeless. She asked God WHY and the heavens opened up and a booming voice from heaven said “Work with me, BUY A TICKET’.

The point this story makes is without no ACTION there can be no REACTION.

We all know if we do not buy a lottery ticket, there is no chance for us to win. The same goes for our lives. If we do not think and act on our problems, they are not solved.

If we allow negative thoughts overtake our positive thoughts, we will never act. We would only sit and wait for something to happen and we wonder why nothing happens.

With positive thoughts replacing the negative thoughts, it gives us direction to act and make something happen. If it is not right the first time, we must try and try until the action is what we wished for.

We use the words can’t and won’t and noting happens because we never try. Try using Can and will that gives you the desire to make it happen.

Never give up until you have reached your goal in life. My goal is Owning my own Life and knowing the direction I want to take and that is being the person God put me on this earth to be.

You can also do it. Just focus on the good not the bad, the positive not the negative. Find and write down the things you are thankful for. If we just look around us, there are so many things to say thanks for than things we are without.

If you are down and depressed, I hope this is a way to think positive. Your life will change for the better.

God Bless

Maggie Kress

I can show you how to determine if your mind is thinking positive or negative. There are several words for each for your evaluation. I can show you some thoughts that can help you change your thinking and alert you to make a change in that thinking.

Winning the National lottery has to be every ones dream, who says money can’t buy happiness? I am afraid I beg to differ. The odds are against the few who states otherwise. Taking responsibility of new found status of being a millionaire is enough to put a smile on the face of any rags to riches punter.

Is there any proven Pick 3 method that pays out mega bucks? What are the odds in striking it lucky with birthday and anniversary dates? How much truth is in astrology where luck is on your side if you purchase a lottery ticket from a dark haired Venezuelan?

Gambling is a numbers game. In school we were taught to jumble our digits around then add them together, and should the numbers tally then hey presto you had the correct answer. Unfortunately should the numbers not total up it was time to solve the problem by looking for a solution.

In the national lottery a Pick 3 formula is all you need to rake it in, how wrong you are? To pick 3 lotto numbers expect a pocket full of pennies

Winning high stakes like the jackpot, you need to do your homework. Let us replace the word solution and turn it into System. With a carefully planned and put together lottery formula you better the odds of your dream coming true.

Think about it? These games of chance are carefully structured by very intelligent people that have studied and researched on how to take your money by using a system/method.
Why do you think they were christened the fat cats, believe me it was not by leaving it to chance.

Remember a fool and his money is soon parted.

A lottery formula is produced by teams of people who have put a lot of time behind the nuts and bolts of any gambling game before it is introduced to the public. Think about it, if a system works for these boys then it can work for you.

The internet is a major gambling hall for punters where they play poker bingo cards whatever; gamblers even get to play lotto online.

The web is not just about gambling and games, make sure to use the internet with expertise and gather all the information you need to prevent yourself from losing your home.
Help is out there if you are hooked on having a flutter on the horses or placing chips onto a roulette table.

It is a mug’s a game as the saying goes, we the mugs are being mugged without the physical violence, these people are lining their pockets with your hard earned cash.

In Las Vegas casinos are ten a penny. Horse racing attracts people like the royal family and don’t know what to do with my money oil sheiks. For big money dividends it has to be the lottery. It is known that people travel hundreds of miles to different states to buy a lucky rollover ticket in hope to get winning lotto numbers

Are you serious about taking money from the fat cats? Then get it right from the beginning. If you have chosen the right lottery formula then you are on the run in towards the winning post.

What are the odds on luck beating any system? Do your maths and you are onto a winner

Any concerns with your gambling habits then please seek help.

The Game industry but specifically the lottery is a core element in the Spanish culture. Most popular lotteries are the state lottery “the big one” (el Gordo) and “the child” (el Niño) which pay the highest premium. The former is due before Christmas and the latter before the arrival of the three kings on the sixth of January. Both events have a mayor impact on societal live and the celebration of the winner is followed on television. “Where will it – the lucky number – fall this year,” is the big question. In which community, province, city or town?

Eleven is the “lucky” number for blind and others with a handicap. Eleven, in Spanish ONCE — Organization National de Ciegos — is the organization that issues lottery tickets which are sold by people with a handicap. These tickets are sold and issued daily with prices ranging from an euro to five million euros or more. It could be your lucky day.

The architecture of this organization is quite unique. People with a handicap have been unlucky in a certain way and they are offered a job in the lottery industry. This lottery business is a quite rational process. It is like an inverted insurer who pays only a percentage of the money that got contributed by people who insure themselves. Unlike a real insurer the lottery company can never loose. The individual changes for any real luck are “small”, but of course anyone can hit the big one.

Whereas the business behind the lottery is completely rational, participating as a client is much more emotional and psychological. People buy a ticket while they know that saving the money will give them more return on the long run, except for a single case in which you hit the bonus. Even when players do not receive a premium they at least have experienced a short journey of hope.

And as an outsider in Spain it is hard to not get involved in this game of luck as you know that you are supporting those who have been less lucky…

Instant Win Scratch Tickets

Have you ever been to a corner store and witnessed an unusual flood of people there, many in and out of their cars, some just sitting mesmerized in a trancelike state, and wondered, ‘what on earth is going on here’? What you have just witnessed is the result of a new release of an Instant Win Scratch Ticket from the Massachusetts State Lottery. I’m sure it comes as no surprise to you that it’s all about entertainment and money. There really is only one thing capable of generating that type of excitement at corner stores and ‘quick stop gas stations’ throughout the state so, there’s also no wondering why the state holds a ‘legalized monopoly’ on the industry.

You may however, have wondered, ‘how do all those people know when a new instant win game is released’? The answer is, they watch for new release announcements on the New Lottery Instant Game Tickets page of the Massachusetts State Lottery Official Web Site. In this way they are always apprised of new opportunities to hit the jackpot.

As for the sudden furor of it all, it can be explained simply with what’s well know throughout the ‘scratching community’, in an attempt to gain popularity for a game, each new instant games release is saturated with winning tickets.

So, now a week as gone by and the crowds have dissipated at the ‘scratching posts’ and you a have some former presidents burning a hole in you pocket. Short of a cold shower, you decide what to do, buy yourself some instant win lottery tickets! Now comes the dilemma, which games tickets to buy? Before extinguishing those fiery historical figures, refer to the Instant Prizes Claims page of the Massachusetts State Lottery Official Web Site. Additionally you may want to check the Instant Prizes Under 1,000,000 page.

What you are looking for is the claimed vs. total columns on the right side on both of the listing pages. By scanning those two columns you can easily see how many prizes are both available and claimed. Now at this point it becomes perfectly obvious that you only want to purchase tickets for games that have more unclaimed prizes than claimed prizes. After all, why throw away your hard earned money on a 46 claimed prizes out of 50 available prizes game ticket when you can purchase a 28 vs. 66 or 18 vs. 80 and have something on the order of 30 to 60 more chances of winning the grand prize amount! Granted though, all those winners will not be in circulation at the time of your purchase.

This begs the question of how much money to spend on your instant win ticket purchase. Most “professional ‘scratchers’” remark, you must spend at least $100 on one game at one time to have any real chance of winning a jackpot, claiming, you really need several full fresh sheets of tickets in order to better your chances of your scratching revealing that jackpot. However prudence dictates you can only buy as many scratch tickets as your budget will allow. So, if spending $100 simply is not in your budget today, perhaps over time, putting some money aside for a ‘new instant win release treat day’ would be an acceptable way to both play by the ‘rules’ and, make it relatively ‘affordable’ to do so.

Cash WinFall

A ‘one wheel’ game, Cash WinFall, being the Massachusetts State Lotteries newest game, has an interesting twist on its jackpot. The money is rolled down to lesser winners! If no grand prize has been won before the jackpot pool reaches $2 Million, that $2,000,000.00 or more then gets dissipated through to all lower level wins of that draw. Meaning, if the jackpot is $2 Million or more, and there is no jackpot winner, that $2 Million goes to all the prize winners in that drawing. Pretty neat! Now it’s quite obvious when to play Cash WinFall!

Mega Millions

A two wheel game, Mega Millions is the Massachusetts version of the highly popular multi state game PowerBall. Being a 2 wheel game, the odds are quite high against picking all 6 winning numbers. In fact they are quite a bit higher than PowerBall odds. One would naturally assume because the odds are higher, there would be less frequent winners with higher jackpots. That simply is not the case. PowerBall has jackpot winners, on average over the past year, approximately once every 6 weeks (8 winners) with 9 figure jackpots numbering 4. While Mega Millions has jackpot winners, on average over the past year, approximately once every 4 weeks (14 winners) with 9 figure jackpots also numbering 4. One can reasonably assert that those figures are a result of the participating states population and economic demographics.

So how do all those people win? The Official Web Site of Mega Millions states quite clearly on its Winning Picks page that ‘Lottery games such as Mega Millions are random and it is impossible for anyone or any lottery analysis software to predict exactly what will be the next drawn balls. However, patterns can still be observed from the balls that are randomly drawn for different periods of time’. That being said, you can obviously have a better chance of winning through a lottery related form of Statistical Analysis. For more information on Statistical Analysis and how it applies to the Massachusetts State Lottery, visit MassLotteryResult.com. So, when should you play this game? You should really only play Mega Millions about the 4th week after every jackpot winner!

The Numbers Game

A 4 wheel game and the oldest of the Massachusetts State Lottery Games, The Numbers Game has been in operation since 1975. More than 10,000 drawings have made players the happy winners of tens, hundreds and, thousands of dollars every day. Number odds being quite reasonable, one would assume winning this game to be relatively easy. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The fact is, the way you are forced to play this game aids in stacking the odds much farther against you than you may think. With it’s all 4 any 4, first 3 last 3 any or exact, 2 digit combinations, .25c, .50c, $1, $2, and $5 play options, coupled with payouts less than $10,000, playing this game is a real challenge, as too is it’s worthiness of being played. What the designers of this old lottery game seem to have overlooked is,it’s not how to play but what you win, something the newer games embrace fully. That being said, The Numbers Game does have its merits. There are lots of people out there who only want to bet .25c or .50c and, not even Keno offers that option. What this game really needs is a simple ‘any 3’ option including a ‘$5 only’ bet and a maximum $500 payout. That alone could catapult the popularity of The Numbers Game to stratospheric levels. So what’s the best way to play this game? .25c and 50c bets only, any combinations you want. The layman perspective is, pick 4 out of 40 on The Numbers Game and maybe win $10,000. Pick 5 out of 35 on MassCash and definitely win $100,000, spending $1 or more should be saved for MassCash.

MassCash

An older ‘one wheel’ game that, since its inception in 1991, has paid its $100,000 jackpot to more than 2500 winners! With its reasonable odds and reasonable payouts it’s easy to see why this older game continues to be popular. With jackpot winners nearly every drawing, and multiple winner too, you can play this game whenever it’s drawn!

MegaBucks

An older ‘one wheel’ game that, since its inception in 1982, has paid more than 1700 winners varying prize amounts totaling about $2.5 Billion. A fairly tough game to win, jackpot winners are, on average, paid out every 10 -12 drawings. So, naturally you only play this game every 10 – 12 draws after a jackpot winner.

Keno

A ‘newer one wheel’ computer driven game and a masterpiece of modern gambling Keno, is designed for people with a lot of time on their hands. After all, where else can you have a chance to win $1 Million every 5 minutes 21 hours a day, 6 days a week, and 13 hours on Sunday! When should you play this game? Whenever you’ve had just enough to drink to think you can actually pick 12 of the 20 numbers drawn from a pool of 80. Seriously, Keno is a very fun game and, when played correctly, can create hours of enjoyment for little to no money spent. In fact people have been known to play all night and leave no poorer than when they started! How is that? Keno allows you to win if you don’t pick any of the winning numbers! Amazing! Well, maybe not all that amazing as Lottery Officials have obviously figured out that it’s harder to not pick any of the winners than to pick 1, 2 ,3 or 4 winners when playing a 12, 11 or 10 spot game as you don’t win anything for picking less than 5 winning numbers. But, if you are the unluckiest person around you could win all night long! So how do you play this game? The odds are just as good winning a prize on the 7 spot wager as the 1 spot wager so play the 7 spot though the best over all odds are on the 2 spot wager. Simply show up, pick you numbers, pay for however many games your visit will cover and, cash out when you leave.
