The figures in this Report are for Australian Powerball – but the CONCEPTS apply to Powerball USA, Texas Lotto, California Lottery, Mega Millions, UK Thunderball, Hot Lotto and other 5 + 1 type lotteries.

You may already know that the Odds of winning Australian Powerball are:

1-in-54,979,155.

What you may not know is how Powerball Odds are calculated. If you open a MS Excel spreadsheet and go – Insert – Function – Combin and enter 45 and 5, Excel will tell you there are 1,221,759 ways to combine 5 numbers from 45.

Each of those 1,221,759 games can be combined with any one of the 45 Power balls; so the overall odds of winning the Australian Powerball game are:

1,221,759 x 45, or 54,979,155.

By playing EVERY Power ball, you ensure you have the Power ball correct. You have just reduced the Lottery Odds from 54,979,155-to-1 to 1,221,759-to-1; a reduction of over 50 Million. If you play Australian Powerball, play 45 games, using all the Power balls, and you can get a 50-Million plus advantage in your odds.

This reduces the Australian Powerball Odds by 97.78%

There are two ways you can improve on this. The first concentrates on using all 45 numbers from the FIRST barrel in Australian Powerball. To play every number, you need just 9 games (45 numbers in total, divided by 5 per game).

If you play 9 games (that include all 45 numbers) with EVERY Powerball, you guarantee -

The Power ball itself, plus at least 1
of the 5 main Powerball numbers.

This means the 1,221,759 games to guarantee the first 5 winning Australian Powerball numbers no longer applies. You have 1 or more winning numbers with the Power ball itself. Therefore, the remaining task is getting 4 winning numbers from the 44 numbers left in the Australian Powerball game.

Going back to our MS Excel function, “combin” we see that 4 from 44 creates Powerball odds of 135,751 – a huge improvement on the 1,221,759 for 5 from 45.
